This year we were absolutely delighted to be invited to take part in the Foss Street Galleries Night – a wonderful evening of art right here in our charming little artisan corner of Dartmouth, Devon.
It was our very first time putting together an exhibition, so we teamed up with our resident artist, Jack Wotton, and our lovely friend, Summer Jane, to create a coastal themed show titled Above & Below The Waves. The idea perfectly linked Summer’s sailing and surfing paintings with Jack’s intricate drawings of ocean life.
Because our shop is on the cosy side (and some of the pieces we wanted to display are anything but small!), we had to get a bit creative with the layout. In true "us" fashion, a lot of our furniture ended up stashed in my parents’ camper van.
Meanwhile, Jack and Summer rolled up their sleeves and painted the enormous OSB boards we were using for temporary walls. Before we knew it, the big day had arrived and it was time to piece it all together…
Somehow, those new walls made the space feel even bigger, and seeing Jack’s drawings alongside Summer’s paintings was just magical. We served Pimm’s, enjoyed countless lovely conversations, and were touched by all the kind words and enthusiastic feedback we received about the work.
